Whether you’ve been a client of LeMay and Company from the beginning or are new to hearing about us, we figured it was time to share more about our team and our office! Our ever-growing staff has a passion for the work they do and take pride in making sure the solutions they find match each client they work with. We specialize in small business and individual needs and want to know the people behind the businesses we serve. This blog will hopefully shed light on the hard-working team behind the work we do at LeMay and Company.
Our Team
We have a diverse staff that comes from different backgrounds with one passion: to work with individuals and small businesses to help them thrive.
The Founder and Principle – Robert (Bob)
Robert LeMay is the principal of LeMay & Company, a CPA firm established in 1997 to address the financial accounting needs of small businesses. Robert has over 29 years of experience in the financial management of small companies. He has helped countless entrepreneurs realize their dreams of owning their own business by guiding clients through the process of launching their business, managing growing pains, and even assisting in the successful sale of the company. Born and raised in New England, Robert brings a no-nonsense approach to the world of accounting. He has an uncanny ability to break down the complicated rules of accounting in a way even the least financially savvy person can understand. Corporate citizenship is an integral part of LeMay & Company’s brand philosophy. Robert believes this begins at the top. Leading by example, he performs on average more than 250 hours of volunteer service each year.
In addition, Robert is a volunteer instructor for the Women’s Business Center of Northern Virginia and the Small Business Development Center associated with the Community Business Partnership. He provides consulting services monthly for the clients of the Community Business Partnership, where he serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors. He also provides additional advisory services to them as needed. Robert also serves as a volunteer instructor for the Mason Enterprise Center in addition to providing counseling to their clients during the year. He provides QuickBooks Online classes during the year for the Small Business Administration’s SCORE program. Robert also is an instructor for the Virginia Tech Income Tax School.
Managerial Accountant – Kym
Kym Walker joined LeMay & Company in 2011. Kym has more than 12 years experience in accounting and human resources. Kym’s educational focus was on acquisitions and contract management with a minor in accounting, and she has followed that path in her career. Accounting and working with numbers has always been a passion for Kym. She enjoys assisting small-business owners with creating a financial structure and implementing this structure into operations. Her previous experience working with mid to large-sized companies has equipped her with the knowledge to assist smaller companies.
Kym works with clients in a variety of functions, but she specializes in accounting and HR, accounts payable and accounts receivable and QuickBooks training.
Managerial Accountant – Julie
Julie Murray joined LeMay & Company in 2021. She has a bachelor’s in business administration with concentrations in accounting and finance and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dayton. Julie has more than 13 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on tax compliance and consulting. Julie is an Enrolled Agent, which allows her to represent taxpayers before the IRS and she has extensive experience assisting clients with a variety of tax matters. She enjoys working with clients to help them better understand their business and financial situation to make sound decisions and grow.
Bookkeeper – Dalia
Dalia Huggins joined LeMay & Company in 2012. She has over 15 years of bookkeeping experience for small businesses and has worked with non-profit local churches as well. Dalia holds a degree from Northern Virginia Community College with an emphasis on Business Administration. During her career, she worked as a real estate appraiser in Virginia and Maryland, providing residential property market valuations for mortgage lenders and homeowners, and progressed into the accounting field, developing an interest in small business bookkeeping for growing companies. As part of the LeMay & Company team, she provides bookkeeping services and QuickBooks training.
Staff Accountant – Mike
Michael Hood joined LeMay & Company in January 2023. He has a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minor in business data analytics from George Mason University. Mike has largely lived in New Hampshire, but has also spent time residing in the U.K., Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, and now Virginia. Outside of accounting, he has significant experience with independent contracting as well as the restaurant industry. Above all else he has a passion for finding the best course of action for people in unique situations whether it be related to one’s business or personal finances.
Office Manager – Debbi
Debbi LeMay joined LeMay & Company in June 2017 to assist in the overall administration of the company. She supports the office staff and assists clients with miscellaneous needs, including troubleshooting problems with all of our client facing software. Debbi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire.
Our Passion
Our staff all come from vastly different backgrounds and bring many different perspectives to the services we offer. This allows us to bring passion into all parts of our work, from helping small businesses grow and get off the ground, providing personalized advice for individuals, and taking time to teach classes on a range of subjects to help others grow their own knowledge. Serving our clients is the centeral goal – and allowing our staff to bring their own passions and experiences to the table when helping solve your problems leads to success for everyone.
